At the tip of the hand

TOT ZINES collaborates with local artists in Antwerp, Belgium. Initiated by Sarah Stone in 2024, who invited digital creator Sarah Mayer to publish her set of paintings zing that she created in 2017. This is the first publication for TOT ZINES, RISO-printed by SO-RI in Antwerp.

In collaboration with Laurent Poleo-Garnier, NIGHTNIGHT is an archive of images and texts from different sources addressing the theme of the night. Over the book as a party that degenerates with fatigue, alcohol and other stimulants, images and layout deteriorate, the subjects get tired, the vision is cloudy...

(...) There is no one on the chair, there is no hand on the table, perhaps nobody on the floor. The set up is empty, but some kind of unsettling presence is undeniable. The set up is so obviously fake that there must be something behind it. I am not going to lie: I am going to lie.
If I lie, there is a deliberated stand. I don't have to be "true", to myself, to others. My intention is not to find lying moving, but those who can never lie cannot grow either, cannot discover who they really are. The people, that every day are forced to rip off their personality into fragments, know something about themselves and about life that nobody could teach them. Lying, betraying, is to want to or be able to transform a situation, a fact, an emotion, oneself. The act of lying suddenly un-conceals what has been considered as neutral or as the reference point. The power relations already in place are being revealed, "normality" appears as hegemony. The lie embodies a transgression. It is an attempt to escape normative structures and the refusal to assimilate them. (...)

3000 Days of Archives i a visual journey through the forgotten corners of the eyewear industry. Some untold stories, brands, objects, and people who shaped its evolving landscape. The collection was started in 2018 by the Bidules team, it is an ongoing project, taking no claim to meaning, blending scanography and photography to explore fragments of a trade shaped by time, chance, and memory.

The publication was developed under the creative direction of Mathys Dos Santos, a 23-year-old Brussels-based photographer with a focus on archival storytelling and small print-run publishing. Published by Bidules, the book is a testament to the richness of forgotten material culture, placing itself at the crossroads of visual culture, industrial design, photography and archival research, documenting a lesser-known sector of the eyewear history through a curated lens.

An account of Spring Brakers, a project launched during the so-called First Wave. Spring Brakers was an online platform hosting video performances by a different artist each week alongside podcasts on various topics focusing on other labels or musical persuasions.

For this publication, all of the musicians who participated in the project are profiled, resulting in a grounded and oddly inspiring collection of testimonies of how artistic practices are shaped by an era that is still ongoing.

Artists include locals such as Bear Bones, Lay Low, Quanta Qualia, Vica Pacheco, KRAMP, Orphan Fairytale, and more, as well as far-out friends like Ka Baird, MSHR, Jung An Tagen, Eric Frye, and so on.

Each profile has a handy QR to redirect to each artist's video, and each copy includes a code to download a compilation made especially for the publication.

Issue 01 is an A5 collection of essays, journalism, poetry, illustrations, and photography by Dyke contributors all over the world.

Infrastructural systems define our ways of seeing and responding to the world around us. Today, our everyday lives and visual cultures have become saturated by digital communications systems whose physical footprint has been rendered largely invisible from the public sphere.

In an age of ever-expanding computation and a foolish believe in AI’s utopian potential, resistance can seem futile. But if we detach our gaze from increasingly narrow realm of digital imaginaries, a new world of radically different infrastructural opportunities opens up in front of our eyes.

Street libraries, or Minibiebs, as they are called in Dutch, are an under-appreciated piece of urban technology. Part manifesto, part research note, this mini publication dives into the radical potential of public book sharing structures and what they might tell us about our broken information ecosystem.
